Work in Progress of LUMEN RESTAURANT PROJECT

This is what we have to turn in for our midterm as Phase 2 of the projects. There were a lot of requirements from the instructor, we were in the computer lab the entire week that week plus a 24hrs lab on the weekend. *Phew*, I'm so glad I got it done and present it to the class, again this is more of a design development and definitely not the final turn out. This is just a general idea, feeling, and atmosphere that I'm thinking for the restaurant. There will be a lot more changes in the future for the final project. It was also great to see other classmate presenting their project. I think everyone did such a great job on this one. Go girls :)

I know there's a lot more that need to change to make it better but this is what I have for now. I'm still debating a lot about the color of the restaurant plus the lighting. Let's see where this take me. If you have any suggestion, don't hesitate to let me know :)
Good Luck.

Senior Capstone Project

Wow, I can't believe it is our last semester in school. We all will be out doing different things next year: Job, Internship, Thesis...
So here is our last project in school, a nice overall project for all that we have learn along the way.

The client is Union Mission and we are to design a 3 floors building that includes restaurant on the first floor, administrative offices on the second floor, and dormitory on the third floor. The idea for this project is to give the homeless people an opportunity to learn a career. The participants will be given trainings, and practical experiences from working in the restaurant not only as cooks but also waiters, host, etc. While in the program they are provided with housing which is on the third floor of the building. So Here It Is!! Let's make the best out of this.

CONCEPT!!! CONCEPT!! CONCEPT!! One of the first important thing. For this project I chose BIOLUMINESCENCE to be the concept. Here are some of the inspiration images.

And this is the building that we will be working on, it is actually in downtown Sarasota. Wish it is a real project.

Color Pencil and Marker Site Map

I have been going back and forth on the restaurant's name. At first someone give me the idea of naming it COBALT, which is the metal that reflects light. It doesn't really go with the concept since metal is too harsh, so now its name is LUMEN. I like it much better, you can just see the light when you hear that word hihi. And here is the restaurant's logo. What do you think?

Alright!! That's is it for tonight, I have a lot more process work that I am very excited to post up later. Good night world :)

Donghia Award: A Dream...Came True

Yes, It was really a dream comes true. While my parents and I were so worried about how am I going to be able to afford last year tuition, at the same time, I was nominated to be one of the students to submit a project for Angelo Donghia Senior Portfolio Competition. I was thrilled to be nominated and was nervous because I wasn't sure how would I make it happen, plus the school had winners on the competition almost every year. It is still unbelievable that I got this scholarship that help cover my senior year, and it was such an honored to be one of the twelve recipients. Still the same feeling, and still the best project to work on EVER. And THANK YOU EVERYONE.

Here are the boards that we sent in for the competition.

Retail Store Design: PIVOT

I was looking at some of my old projects today and found this video. This retail store is for both men and women, we the project is for our Digital design class in our junior year and I had to say it was one of my favorite project to work on. The entire project took around 2 months. We spend a lot of time in concept development, design which is a more important process.Surprisingly, we didn't even start working on the 3D modeling until the last 2-3 weeks and the video is done like right before the day it was due ^.^ (Yes, it was an alnighter LOL). Lots of sweat and blood and Advil but absolutely love the project. :) The concept is Pivot where everything is rotating around it. This project also received Best Graphic Presentation at Best of Ringling. I was so excited. So I just want to post it up and so it will always be available online

Concept: PIVOT
Computer Softwares: 3Ds Max, Adobe Premiere Pro

I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I did while working on it. ^.^

Logo and Business Card

So I after many changes, here is my new logo and business card. Hopefully I will have it printed on time for the interview. Yes, I used green, it is my favorite color, it gives a refreshing feeling to the eyes and relaxing when you look at it.
For the business card, I decided not to put my address in since I know that I will be moving around for the next couples.... years :) . Both of my email and phone number are exclusively created for business purposes. For now, my website will be link to my blog until I have a time and some help on making an actual website. Let's hope it's not too long from now.
Let me know your honest opinion, is there anything I should change????
Good luck everyone.

Of course.... here is one of my first projects

Fall of 2008
CONCEPT: CHERRY BLOSSOM

This is my first project that I have ever done at Ringling. It is a dentist office, it was simple project but still a lot for me at that time since I did not know much about interior design, but the most important thing is I did learn a lot from this project. We took little baby steps and learn from the very basic and all the render had to be done by hands. I remembered my first stay up late night trying to finish rendering the floor plan. Wow, that was so long ago.

My First Blog

We always say "Late is better than never" :) So! Here I am with my first blog ever. I wanted to make one in a while but never had the time to. I finally take the effort and make it possible.
I will try to do my best to catch up and post my past projects that I have done in the past 2 years at Ringling. There is such a huge different from my first one to the most recent project. You'll see the progress and the quality of the result. I am happier and happier with my projects and they are like my babies that I put in a lots of dedication, passion and sweat equity.
I also told myself that I will keep this blog alive with not only my projects, process but aslo people and design ideas that I found inspired to me and share it with everyone.
P/S: Please excuse my typo or gramma. :) English is not my native language.
